Dickinson County CEO students started their day with a beautiful morning at AbiFarms! Owners Martin & Marcia Schneider welcomed the group, sharing insights into their farming operation. What began as a hobby has grown into a thriving business, selling fruits and vegetables at Abilene’s Farmers Market and other wholesale locations.

Students learned firsthand about the growing process—from planting schedules and crop rotation to the importance of water and weeding. The Schneiders also emphasized continuous improvement and shared how they've developed innovative, self-designed equipment to "work smarter, not harder."

Beyond the crops, the students gained valuable lessons in business decision-making, understanding how economics influence operations, and the importance of consistency in building customer relationships. What a great opportunity to learn directly from local entrepreneurs!
