Today’s visit was all about communication! Dickinson County CEO students had the opportunity to meet with Julie Roller-Weeks, Director of the Abilene Visitor & Convention Bureau, who shared valuable pointers on how to enhance their professional communication. Julie emphasized the importance of "telling your story" and provided personalized feedback on the students' biographies.
During a work session, students had the chance to revise their bios and incorporate new elements to help them stand out. Julie asked them to consider: “What is the hook that makes you stand out?”
She also gave insightful tips on communication mistakes to avoid and reminded our students to not only communicate but to follow up on their actions. Her words of wisdom: "You are what you do—not what you say you are going to do."
